The Police High Command, Abuja, claims that it was not aware that acting commissioner of police, Lagos state Police Command, Imohimi Edgal, had been demoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police. It rather reaffirms that Imohimi Edal retains his position.
Lagos state acting commissioner of police was demoted. But in a swift reaction, the police high command has debunked the claim asserting that the commissioner still retains his position. In an earlier report, the Police Service Commission (PSC) was said to have reversed two of its acting commissioners to their old ranks. Stating that the officers affected are Mohimi D. Edgal who is the acting commissioner of police in Lagos state and Aji Ali Janga, the acting commissioner of police in Kogi state.
This announcement is coming after Mohimi D. Edgal in a press briefing talked about Davido's connection in the investigation of Tagbo's death but it has now been debunked.
According to the memo dated October 8, 2017, with title: "Withdrawal of Acting Appointment: AP:25095 Mohimi D. Edgal And AP. 36665 Aji Ali Janga, the Commission, at its 24th Plenary Meeting of 27th and 28th September, 2017 took a decision not to ratify the anticipatory approval.
"The commission said; “The Officers are, therefore, reverted to their substantive rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).. “Please, accept the assurances of the Commission’s high esteem.”
