As peace continues to reign in the Niger Delta, some youths under the aegis of Peace Renaissance Enhancement Initiative,PREI, have commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for the development. National coordinator of the PREI, Okosikeme Daniel in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, said the relative peace in the Niger Delta region was as a result of the initiative of President Buhari and Acting President Osinbajo who engaged the elders and youths in dialogues.
According to him, efforts such as sustaining the amnesty programme and
the maritime university, as well as other interventions in the Niger Delta, were worthy of commendation and should be encouraged and supported.
Daniel said it was about time for the people of the region to embrace the administration warmly as it had demonstrated that it was committed to the region’s development.
As part of appreciation, the PREI coordinator disclosed that plans were a foot for a Niger Delta Buhari Youths Summit billed for August in Port Harcourt to drum support for the administration while showcasing specific interventions by the Buhari government.
He further said that during the summit, the APC national chairman, John Oyegun, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, and Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh, special adviser on the Amnesty Programme, amongst others, would be honoured for their support to
the president.
